In this webinar, respected human capital consultant Alan Kantrow offers insights into a new way of thinking about the increasingly challenging problem of recruiting. Around the world, college enrollments are booming. At the same time, potential employers in many sectors cannot find adequate numbers of appropriately skilled people to hire. No small part of the reason is that much college education, whatever its quality, is organized by academic discipline in ways that are implicitly structured to prepare students to do graduate work in their chosen fields. Employers then have to guess, with scant basis for accuracy, whether the formal academic performance of these students is a compelling proxy for the knowledge, skills, and capabilities they need in their new hires.
What they do know for sure is that college education, for the most part, does not often develop the interpersonal, communication, critical thinking, and numeracy competencies they are looking for.
