Managing Risk: An Approach to Handling Chemicals of Concern
“Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress…”; however, in today’s world the flood of information and the 24-hour news cycle can just add noise and confusion to the dialogue. In this session, Crown will share their experience in the arena of chemicals that become front and center of public and media discourse and debate. They will discuss their experience of how science + emotion can just lead to more emotion and how they’ve discovered that sometimes more data is just more noise. They will share the lessons learned on timing entry into the arena, approaching the media and creating a forum to correct misinformation. We will also consider how companies can and should generate a shared value system and dialogue. A system that can provide helpful education on chemicals to the public; accurate information on hazards and risks to the media; and help your company get its point of view across and prevent it from further spotlight.
