Surveys on Warranties and International Sourcing
Our Council has added to its library two important surveys, both available here.
The survey on international sourcing sampled 10 MAPI councils on transferring various business functions from in-house or domestic operators to a firm located abroad. 60 percent of respondent companies engaged in international sourcing. Labor cost reduction is cited as the most pursued goal of international sourcing. About half of respondents reported that international sourcing has created medium/high skill jobs domestically in their companies. Consult the document for more insights.
The survey on warranties queried executives about warranty practices. Four-fifths of companies surveyed service warranties in-house. Only about half of surveyed companies offer extended warranties and in-house coverage of those predominates. Dealers offer warranties in about half of the sample. You will find many more interesting details by consulting the summary report.
