I want to thank MAPI for their great work they did for us around Total Cost of Ownership. Time and time again, MAPI responds quickly to our needs for customized information that is insightful and useful. Understanding how companies measure the value suppliers bring is of utmost importance to both procurement professionals and anyone in sales or marketing. Our company has benefited greatly from our relationship with MAPI:
We use the MAPI economic and energy forecasts as part of both our five-year and annual business planning processes and even use the economists from MAPI as speakers to our management team for this purpose. We have found them to be extremely effective predictors.
We use the Council meetings for networking and testing our business improvement ideas as well as use the topics as catalysts for improving our business. For example, strategic pricing was initiated following my exposure at a Council meeting. This single initiative has improved the profitability of our company significantly.
We have used the quick survey function amongst members to help us fine-tune an improvement initiative by tapping into other MAPI members’ experience implementing similar programs and asking them for advice and counsel. Specifically we were considering a strategic change to our approach to markets via our sales channel. We found other members who had taken a similar approach and were able to discuss best practices and lessons learned as part of our design and implementation. Additionally, several member companies agreed to continue to advise us as we proceeded through the process.
MAPI membership is like having a cadre of experienced consultants at your doorstep. Just being able to bounce my ideas against my peers and here their perspective has given me confidence to “pull triggers” faster than I would have without their counsel.
