Manufacturing Council Member Spotlights

I want to thank MAPI for their great work they did for us around Total Cost of Ownership. Time and time again, MAPI responds quickly to our needs for customized information that is insightful and useful. Understanding how companies measure the value suppliers bring is of utmost importance to both procurement professionals and anyone in sales or marketing. The quality of the information that MAPI gave us was really good, and will help SKF make more-informed decisions around buying and selling on total cost.

I found the content and response to the recent MAPI survey on Operational Excellence both concise and very useful. Johnson Matthey is at the beginning of its formal, global Manufacturing Excellence initiative and having a benchmark to other manufacturers provides a good reference to the design and direction of our program.

Periodic MAPI surveys around key supply chain issues (Japan Tsunami,  Mexico violence, preparation for market recovery, affects of oil prices on costs, etc.) have helped provide benchmark comparisons to our internal performance and approaches. Discussions during the Council meetings inspired some follow up best practice sharing with some members’ representatives regarding their practices on Sales & Inventory operations Planning (SIOP).
