“As part of our annual strategy and planning practices, we leveraged MAPI to benchmark our operation, in CRM in particular, comparing our experiences and activities with more than 80 peer companies. The final report, which included both quantitative benchmarks and members' comments, has been immensely helpful. It has given us insight into best practices around implementation, common roadblocks, and a clearer understanding of how others measure ROI of their CRM systems. The data was especially powerful because it comes from peer manufacturers, enabling us to make clear comparisons, and ensuring we are able to clearly focus on additional ways to “Deliver the Promise” to our valued customers. Normally, we would have had to pay a substantial amount for a custom research project, but we were delighted that it was included as part of our MAPI membership.”
I want to thank MAPI for their great work they did for us around Total Cost of Ownership. Time and time again, MAPI responds quickly to our needs for customized information that is insightful and useful. Understanding how companies measure the value suppliers bring is of utmost importance to both procurement professionals and anyone in sales or marketing. The quality of the information that MAPI gave us was really good, and will help SKF make more-informed decisions around buying and selling on total cost.
The MAPI Law Council provides a unique opportunity for general counsels of manufacturing companies. Members of the Law Council meet twice each year to get the latest updates on issues that affect all general counsels, and to get the most valuable insights any general counsel can obtain, namely, the insights provided by sharing concerns, challenges, and best practices with other people who have their same job, in their same industry.
I recently asked MAPI to identify best practices around pricing excellence, to support a major initiative for Celanese. With a very short turnaround, MAPI delivered a polished report based on feedback from peer companies, filled with benchmarks and lessons learned from fellow marketing executives. We’ve found the information extremely helpful, and it has helped us make smarter, better-informed decisions in this extremely important area. By leveraging the MAPI network, we were able to get high-quality information that filled our needs, at no added cost.
As a newly promoted Treasurer and a relatively new member of the MAPI Treasury Council, I have been extremely impressed with the level of experience possessed by my Treasury Council peers as well as the amount of resources at one’s disposal upon joining the Council. There have been numerous occasions where upon my request MAPI has polled its member companies to solicit best practice feedback on specific treasury-related issues and I have found that feedback to be extremely valuable. The feedback I received has supported numerous key decisions made during my tenure as Treasurer and has changed in many instances my approach to addressing important operational matters within the Corporate Treasury function. The networks and long-lasting friendships I have formed have been invaluable and will continue to serve me well throughout my tenure as Treasurer.
Tennant is a $.8B multinational manufacturing company based in the Midwest. With approximately 45% of our sales from international sources and manufacturing facilities in the U.S., Europe, Brazil, China and other international locations, we have all of the complications of much larger multinationals but without the resources. We use MAPI as a focused source of insight into global issues. As the Treasurer, I have utilized MAPI member resources in a variety of topics including FX management, DB/DC benchmarking and organization of international treasury. As MAPI is focused on manufacturing, we consistently use MAPI sponsored research/polls/white papers in our business planning throughout our entire organization. We have found MAPI to be an invaluable resource to help us provide global solutions at the speed of business with a cost we can afford.
I’ve been a member of the MAPI Treasury council for over a year now, and it came highly recommended from a Treasurer at another company I was networking with. After attending several meetings, I have concluded that the MAPI Treasury Council is the best forum I’ve found for identifying new approaches and opportunities, for benchmarking my own company’s treasury functions and processes against companies of similar scale, and for networking.
I did not fully appreciate the value of my MAPI membership until I moved to a large global public accounting firm and had to give up my membership. The diversity and depth of knowledge of the collective MAPI members exceeded even the expertise of the global public accounting firm. In my move back to industry, one of the first things I did was rejoined MAPI.
I am pleased to be a Founding Member of MAPI’s Sustainability Council. As a long-time MAPI member of both the EHS and Sustainability Councils, I personally have found great value in MAPI meetings, benchmarking and peer networking. MAPI continues to be a great communications facilitator and makes it easy for me to connect to my peers and explore new ideas in environmental management and sustainability. As we move forward with our corporate sustainability goals, I know I can count on MAPI to help generate new ideas, leverage the membership for lessons learned, and simply make it easier and more cost-effective for our efforts.
As a manufacturing sustainability professional, I know the importance of peer networking to develop a corporate sustainability program. At GAF, I am responsible for implementing our sustainability and corporate social responsibility efforts. I truly appreciate MAPI’s focus on sustainability in manufacturing because I can connect with peers who have been working on sustainable manufacturing initiatives for years and who can provide practical insight on lessons learned in the process. From product design, to life cycle analyses, to energy management, to product stewardship, I know there is someone at MAPI who has experience they are willing to share.
