Webinar on the Global Economic Outlook

In this webinar, MAPI Senior Economist Cliff Waldman overviews the rising risks in the world business environment.  From cascading sovereign debt, banking, and economic growth crises in the Eurozone to sluggish and now slowing growth in the U.S. as well as the sharp fall-off in emerging market activity, there is much that U.S. manufacturing executives need to consider.

Waldman, who has written and spoken on world economic trends for a decade, overviews the dynamics of key regions as well as the interactions between regions to present a unified and detailed picture of the most challenging global economy in a generation.  He concludes that while policy action will likely prevent a renewed global recession, the outlook has moved from fragile to worrisome and the risk of negative outcomes has increased markedly in recent months. Of particular concern, developing economies are not able to counterbalance industrialized world sluggishness, as was the case in the immediate aftermath of the 2008-2009 world downturn.  Fortunately, policymakers in emerging markets have more room for monetary and fiscal stimulus than is the case in the rich nations.
