MAPI Renews Sponsorship to Issue Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Credits
The Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI has been approved through May 31, 2001, to continue its participation as a sponsor on the National Registry of CPE sponsors.

Status as a registered sponsor affirms MAPI’s commitment to adhere to standards for the delivery of high quality continuing professional education.

Founded in 1993, MAPI serves more than 500 member companies and its network of nearly 2,000 Council members through its core mission of executive education and practical economic research.  MAPI’s Council program remains unique in its focus in its emphasis on peer-to-peer learning often led by its membership of senior level corporate and operations executives in best practices management.

In addition, MAPI publishes a number of annual benchmarking surveys and produces an exhaustive range of economic and legal research.  Consequently its work is increasingly recognized and widely respected by its members, business analysts and national opinion leaders.
MAPI Member Nordson Corporation Wins Managing Automation 2009 Progressive Manufacturing 100 Award

Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI member Nordson Corporation has been named a winner of the 2009 Progressive Manufacturing 100 Award by Managing Automation for its “e-Commerce for SAP” initiative for Nordson subsidiary EFD, Inc.

The award recognizes projects that have achieved distinction in at least one of eight core disciplines as critical to business success in the years ahead.  The EFD e-Commerce system was selected in the Progressive Manufacturing Awards category for “Customer Mastery,” specifically order management, service and support.

“We congratulate Nordson and EFD on this recognition as an innovative leader in the manufacturing sector,” said Thomas J. Duesterberg, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer of the Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI.  “This initiative makes excellent use of technology to advance and streamline Nordson’s business operations and customer service and further enhances its outstanding reputation as a world-class company.”

Nordson Corporation is one of the world’s leading producers of precision dispensing equipment that applies adhesives, sealants and coatings to a broad range of consumer and industrial products during manufacturing operations.  The company also manufactures equipment used in the testing and inspection of electronic components as well as technology-based systems for curing and surface treatment processes.  Nordson has direct operations and sales support offices in 32 countries.

MAPI Provides Members with Stimulus Package Specifics

In response to queries from member companies on how their firms can or will benefit from the federal stimulus package, the Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI has compiled a database listing all of the major provisions, both spending and tax reductions, that will affect a broad range of manufacturing.  The user-friendly format identifies the industrial sectors and subsectors which would benefit from specific programs.

For example, under the heading for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), the user will see that there are 12 different programs and two tax provisions administered by seven federal agencies, all of which have funds that will be spent on construction projects involving improvements to heating and cooling systems.  This information may be useful for companies which supply the systems or to companies that supply components to HVAC manufacturers.

“The database provides a concise overview for MAPI members to see the types of projects and funds available for these initiatives in the recently enacted stimulus package,” said Don Westfall, Research and Council Director.  “We attempt to offer an introductory ‘one-stop shop’ review in the event our members wish to pursue them further.”

MAPI Councils Publish Corporate Social Responsibility Survey

While most executives consider it important to have a formal corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, only about a third currently produce a CSR report, according to a survey recently completed by Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI.

CSR

Over 65 executives from MAPI's General Managers, Environmental Management, and Marketing Councils shared details on how their companies are organizing to address the CSR mandate, and the accompanying white paper is being made available to any interested Council member.

Report author Cam Mackey comments, "The survey data as well as members' anecdotal comments suggest that for many, processes to address and organizations to manage CSR are still being put in place.  It is clear, however, that manufacturers have made CSR a priority.  For example, 86 percent of respondents have established CSR goals, even if their companies don't report publicly on their execution against these goals."
